DAILY REFLECTIONS

1) ” … nothing will so much insure immunity from drinking as intensive work with other alcoholics …

-ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, pp. 89, 100

POWER IN THE PAUSE

2)  We shouldn’t be shy on this matter of prayer — BB pg. 85

I have heard it said that if my problems have brought me to prayer, then they have served a purpose! My drinking brought me to my knees. I was full of desperation, I was drowning. Alcohol owned me and I knew that the only way to get out from its grip was to pray and continue to pray!

GOD GRANT ME…

3) It really doesn’t matter if the person who hurt you deserves to be forgiven. Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.

Forgiveness doesn’t change the other person at all—but neither does our anger at them.

When we forgive, we accept. We unhook the anger that ties us to that person and pain they cause. When we forgive, we are free.

ONE DAY AT A TIME

4) “Courage is the power to let go of the familiar.”

—Raymond Linquist

A sponsor once asked me what I had against feeling good. I had no answer. I now see that in my sickness and ignorance I hung onto the familiar, what I perceived to be truth. Fear kept me from trying something new until I hurt bad enough to beg God for the courage to try a different way. I am amazed at how long I put up with a miserable existence, not even recognizing my fear of change. I understand now that, although physically full-grown, I am spiritually still growing and becoming.
