1) RESTING PLACE
All of A.A.’s Twelve Steps ask us to go contrary to our natural desires … they all deflate our egos. When it comes to ego deflation, few Steps are harder to take than Five. But scarcely any Step is more necessary to longtime sobriety and peace of mind than this one.
-TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 55
2) LIVE AND LET LIVE
There are people in A.A, and everywhere else, who sometimes say things we disagree with, or do things we don’t like. Learning to live with differences is essential to our comfort. It is exactly in those cases that we have found it extremely helpful to say to ourselves, “Oh, well, ‘Live and Let Live.’” In fact, in AA much emphasis is placed on learning how to tolerate other people’s behavior. – Living Sober
3) SELF CARE
“Today, I will not wait for others to see and care; I will take responsibility for being aware of my pain and problems, and caring about myself.” – Language of Letting Go
4) TAKING ONE STEP
Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take the step – Naeem C
