1.ANONYMOUS GIFTS OF KINDNESS
As active alcoholics we were always looking for a handout in one way or another.
“THE TWELVE TRADITIONS ILLUSTRATED,” p. 14
The challenge of the Seventh Tradition is a personal challenge, reminding me to share and give of myself. Before sobriety the only thing I ever supported was my habit of drinking. Now my efforts are a smile, a kind word, and kindness.
2.LIVE AND LET LIVE
We can obsess about our desire to have others conform to our ideas and wishes, or we can accept the fact that we cannot control what others think or do. We can cultivate loving detachment in situations involving people with whom we’re in conflict, rather than allow disagreement to take over our mental energy. We have the choice to come back to the here and now. We don’t have to prove others wrong or make certain everyone understands that we’re right. We can live and let live—it’s freedom.
3.ACT WITH INTEGRITY
When you show through your actions that you’re reliable, honest and can be counted upon, you’re deepening your spirit in action. By doing what you say you’re going to do and following through on your commitments, you’re simultaneously strengthening your sense of self-worth and demonstrating to others you’re responsible and can be trusted.
4.SPIRITUALITY IS NOT LINEAR
Spirituality is not linear but is an obscure odyssey of the soul that meanders, stagnates, and has ups and downs. It warps time, intertwining our past and present, perspectives, relationships, and emotional struggles. Recovery is not a destination but a continual process of transformation—an ongoing adventure, rich with opportunities for growth and self-discovery.
