TOPICS – 9 / 24 / 2025

1) VIGILANCE

We have seen the truth demonstrated again and again: “Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic.” Commencing to drink after a period of sobriety, we are in a short time as bad as ever. If we are planning to stop drinking, there must be no reservation of any kind, nor any lurking notion that someday we will be immune to alcohol.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p. 33

2) CHECKING OUR MOTIVES

In recovery we are encouraged to pause and question our motives before acting to ensure our motives are pure, align with recovery principles, and are driven by genuine service to others and self-growth, rather than selfish desires.

3) GOD OF MY UNDERSTANDING

My friend suggested what then seemed a novel idea. He said, ‘Why don’t you choose your own conception of God?’

4) WISDOM

But what is wisdom? It is the ability to make a choice that will be good for us. No one is born with wisdom. It is learned through trial and error. Just a glance into our past will assure us we have certainly had our share of trials and errors. We have made a wise decision by joining the program. Because of this decision, our lives have become more manageable and less insane.
